Samantha Fish @ The Funky Biscuit
As many artist travel through South Florida I am allowed the pleasure of seeing many artist. Some I go for remembrance of a time passed and some for a completely new experience. I had heard of Blues artist Samantha Fish and looked up her youtube performances, I knew immediately I had to see her perform. Tonight I was blessed to see and hear her perform at Boca Raton’s original Funky Biscuit. The Funky Biscuit is an intimate place where as soon as you walk in you are greeted by friendly faces and polite staff. It is place where you want to sit down jump up and enjoy yourself. Every time I am there, I do.
Ms Fish came out in a black leather jacket and sporting a throwback hairdo. She was beautiful and musically she hit you in the gut! As the band played, the musical experience made time fly and left you wanting one more song.
With the release of her new CD “Belle of The West”, which she says is a little break from her norm. Ms Fish pleasured the crowd with old favorites and new additions to her catalog of songs. It really did not matter because most of the fans there knew them all. Whether she performed her own songs or versions of old classics, she had the crowd excited, singing, screaming and yelling with her.
Between songs she would kindly speak to the crowd as though they were her close friends just there to listen to her. They would respond in kind as they spoke back to her with nothing but love and respect for her skills as a singer, song writer and guitarist.
